Scholastic Kick-Offs Tournament

The U.S. Chess Center held the 2004 Scholastic Kick-Offs Tournament on October 16, 2004.

Kindergarten - Grade 3:: Peter Nelson won the Grades 1 - 3 Section, winning all four of his games.

Grades 4 and 5: Alex Wolf and Nick Kousen were co-champions in the Grades 4 - 5 Section, with Alex winning the tie-break blitz game.

Grades 6 and 7: Erik Agard swept the Grade 6 - 7 Section.

Kindergarten - Grade 12: In the section for players up through 12th grade, the top three places went to elementary school students. Fourth grader Andrew Freix won the championship, scoring 3 1/2 points in four games - his draw coming against John Mehler, a fifth grader.
