Rated Beginners Open

August 3, 2003

The Summer 2003 Rated Beginners Open brought 84 players to the U.S. Chess Center on Sunday, August 3.

HS/Adult Section: The adults dominated the section this year, with Andrew Jesmok, Nick Pontzer and William Radcliffe tying for first place.

Grades 7 - 9: Joey Regalbuto has now finished dominating the elementary school sections and is now winning the Middle School sections. This time he won all four of his games.

Grades 5 & 6: Madhu Karamsetty swept the section.

Grade 4: Darwin Li won his games to claim the championship trophy.

Grades K - 3: Jeevan followed his big sister (the grades 5-6 champion) to win the biggest trophy of the section. Now that he is entering kindergarten, he is no longer violating the rules playing in the scholastic tournaments.
