Rated Beginners Open & Premier Scholastic

Despite all of the conflicts with other chess tournaments and sports events, 97 players packed the Center on a spring-like Sunday to play some good chess. We met a lot of kids for the first time and hope they made new chess friends.

Premier Scholastic

Andy Samuelson swept the section 4-0.

Junior High - Adult

Vladimir Litovchenko had little difficulty, winning all of his games in his first rated tournament.

Grades 4-6

Bret Latter won the first place trophy over co-champion Christine Gerpheide in a blitz play-off. Both had scored 4-0 during the tournament.

Kindergarten - Third Grade

Ian Schoch, Joseph Strickland, David Gleason and Tyler Work split first place, each with 3½ points.
