1998 Kimball/Martin Luther King, Jr. Tournament

This year's event had 133 players on 28 teams coming from the District, Maryland and Virginia. Host Kimball Elementary won both the Primary and Intermediate Divisions again, but they were closely challenged. In the Intermediate Division, just two games going the other way would have given the title to second-place finisher Tubman and just one different result would have allowed Alexandria Country Day to win the Primary Division. The all-girls team from J.O. Wilson came in third place in the Intermediate Division, while Horace Mann came in third place in the Primary Division.
